Matthew felt better in his own mind now about the 'success' of the raid. Thousands had been killed at a stroke. An army destroyed. Hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of shipping and supplies destroyed.
But theirs had been the choice. The French had chosen their own course; no one had forced them into it. Even now they were baying like hounds at the British people on the opposite side of the channel, confident in their superiority of numbers, a pack of ravenous wolves, eager to bring down a hunted stag; soon expected to be joined by a forth predator, Holland, already deeply involved in the profitable business of supplying arms, goods and supporting the avaricious aspirations of the other two; France and Spain.
It was the King's Navy, and men like Nelson and Admiral Rockwell who kept them from the shores of Britain; warriors who joined in battle with them at every opportunity, their courage and fortitude confounding the arithmetic of the confrontation. Men who were ready to lay down their very lives and frequently did, to perpetuate freedom of their island home.

So the story is somewhat predictable, but not completed and the author does give short synopsis of previous story lines; I don't care! The author takes me on a great adventure I would be disappointed to miss. I have thoroughly enjoyed each book in this series so far. Number mine coming up!Product details

It's okay
This series of books are a lot of fun. Captures what it must have been like to sail warships during the 18th century. There is a good mixture of plot, character development and a few twists and turns that holds your interest, look forward to the next inthe seies.
It's getting old having the books constantly repeat what happened in previous books. What, the author thinks we cannot remember the plot line from one book to another? Geez, this is not worth $8 to reread stuff from previous books.
I have enjoyed the series however the historical settings make no sense. The stories jump from the American Revolution to the Napoleonic Wars with no explanation. Also the proofreading is very poor.
This book is a great continuation of the Morgan saga. Some of the weapons and strategies may be a stretch for the time, but make for a good yarn.
Great adventure, really good explanation of complicated passages and plenty of excitement.
The story was exciting, but more like a super hero movie or comic book. Unfortunately, this is not real world. But still an interesting read. The editing is still terrible.
